Produced by the United States Mint, these coins were created to commemorate the first convening of the Congress in the Capitol building. These coins are legal tender of the United States.

Obverse: The Old Capitol building in 1800 with the new Capitol in the background
Reverse: Contemporary interpretation of the U.S. Double Eagle
2001-P US Capitol Visitor Center Clad Half Dollar Proof
Obverse: The 50 stars that enclose the current Capitol dome profile with the 1800 portion detailed and a horse and carriage is shown in the foreground
Reverse: The 16 stars around the center with the inscriptions "1800", "6th Congress", "32 Senators" and "House 106 Members."
