ANTIQUE IMPERIAL RUSSIAN VISHNIAKOV LACQUER BOX TROIKA

Description

An antique Imperial Russian hand painted lacquer box by Vishniakov factory, circa 1900 or 1910. The top lid decorated by an interesting Russian winter troika scene with a sled driver and two well to do peasant women in a sled gliding through the fields of white snow. Painted over a leaf of silver with enamel paints. The box is labeled on the base in English "Made In Russia" and was intended for foreign exhibition and sale. Early strawberry color interior. Hinged lid. The box is in overall good antique condition, with fresh lacquer layer added about 30 years ago. Exceptionally well executed by a professional painter, with great attention to detail. The colors are still very bright and vivid. The box is 100% original with no evidence of restoration. Will make a great addition to any serious collection of Russian Soviet lacquer art. Comes from a private collection of Russian art which is being listed concurrently. Size 4" x 3 1/2" x 1 3/4" height. Shipping costs include insurance.
