Russian Lacquered Trinket Box

Description

You are considering a lovely and colorful wood lacquered box from Russia.  The box is signed by the artist (see photos).  It measures 2-1/8" wide x 2-7/8" long x 1" high. It is in good condition.  There is some cracking to the outer layer of clear lacquer on the top, but it does not interfere with the painted figure below.  There are no chips or paint loss.  The interior is a vivid red.  The picture is of a warrior on horseback holding a black bird with a dog by his side on the ground.  I am not versed in Russian lore, but I assume it is a picture with meaning.
