Russian Nesting Matryoshka Set Presidents George W. Bush 2000 Election. Set of 5 Presidents: George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George HW Bush, Ronald Reagan, and Jimmy Carter. I went to Moscow, Russia right after the presidential election in November of 2000. During my visit in Moscow, we went to a market where the vendors were selling these nesting dolls. Because no clear winner of the election was decided at that time, they had one set with George W. Bush as the winning president and another set with Al Gore as the president. It was during the time when no clear winner was decided due to having to re-count the votes in Florida. Russia made two different sets for whoever won. I happened to pick the set that ended up winning the presidency. I’ve kept this in a memory box in my attic since that trip. They’ve never been played with or even displayed.
