Vintage Moroccan Berber Bag Red Leather Jewelry Beads Coins

Stunning detail and artful craftsmanship displayed in this creative and still fully functional handbag. The Berber men of Morocco would traditionally make and carry these under their djellabas. Hand stitched leather decorated with glass trade beads and accented with bits of jewelry and coins. Some of the trade beads are glass but there are two Amazonite beads on the corners of the top flap. Jewelry bits include antique coin pendants, head dress pieces with niello and hand cut glass cabochons. Beautifully balanced and masterfully crafted. Simply amazing and inspired. This bag measures 7.5" tall by 8.5" wide. Small, compared to most. For an old bag the condition of the leather is amazing. Supple and not at all brittle. The strap drop is 22". It has a fold over top. The strap itself is a satiny rope. The red color of the bag proved hard to capture. The bag is RED, not salmon pink. The strap is kind of salmon, but the leather is red.
