Description
Up for your consideration is a Vintage "TROIKA" Painting from "THE RUSSIAN BEAR RESTARUANT" Detroit Michigan. This is a very large painting, on canvas. Approximately 8 1/2 feet by 4 1/2 feet. These measurements are approximate. If needed I can get you the exact measurements. My great uncle was part owner of the restaurant. My father worked there as a chef. These paintings ( see my other auctions) have been in storage in my mothers home and its now time for them to go to a new home. The restaurant was in two locations. I remember my father taking me to the one that was in a basement of a tall building. . At the time I saw it it was already boarded up. That was in the early 1960's. The second place was in the HISTORIC GEM THEATRE. Yes the Russian Bear Restaurant was in the Gem Theatre. My parents had there wedding reception there. I believe that the restaurant was in business around 1920's to 1950's. This was one of the top restaurants to be seen at! Live Balalaika Orchestra. etc. etc...( If interested in the Russian Bear, Wayne State did a short video of it). In the 1970's a dear friend of my parents mounted the paintings on wooden frame work 1 x 6 with braces . Sturdy but nothing professional. They have been on display in various buildings in the Detroit area. There is a signature in the bottom corner. I can't quite make it out. Wood be great in a restaurant, club hall or if you have a large home. Take a look at the pictures for condition and any other information that you might need. All sales final. No returns. Any questions, concerns or offers, please ask. Thank you for bidding. Have a terrific day
